The vast majority of visa interviews will be scheduled at the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok. Applicants living and working in the northernmost 15 provinces may schedule their interviews at the U.S. Consulate in Chiang Mai if they have lived and worked/studied for at least 3 of the preceding 12 calendar months in one of the following 15 provinces:

Applicants applying in Chiang Mai must bring documentation to support residency claims in one of these provinces. Having your house registration from one of the 15 northern provinces is not enough to qualify for a Chiang Mai appointment. The Consulate WILL NOT honor your appointment if you do not have documentation to show you meet these conditions on the day of the interview. Children/students who live or study outside these northern provinces may apply in Chiang Mai if their parents are working or living in one of the above 15 provinces.
Please note: Before an appointment can be scheduled through this system, all applicants must complete the Nonimmigrant Electronic Visa Application Form DS-160 at https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/. Print the DS-160 confirmation page, including the bar code confirmation number. The DS-160 confirmation number must be entered into the appointment system to complete the scheduling of the visa application interview.
The DS-160 confirmation number is the alpha-numeric code located below the bar code on the printed confirmation page that appears when the application has been completed at https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/.
DO NOT CONTINUE IF YOU HAVE NOT SUBMITTED THE VISA APPLICATION FORM DS-160.
If an applicant either does not have a scheduled appointment that day or has arrived several hours too early for the scheduled appointment, he or she will not be allowed to proceed through security.
Do you accept the above terms and conditions?
